The precolumbian horses.

Based on the broad sweeping statements and generalizations that are made by the Smithsonian and most Archeologist, Historians and anthropologist about the Americas, there is a problem of perception. The Americas are perceived as a whole and not as a regional geographical areas. The 1996 Smithsonian statement regarding the book of Mormon is typical. American  Indians had not wheat, barley, oats, miller, rice, cattle, pigs, chickens, horses, donkeys,  camels, before 1492, Is one example. Professor Mcgee’s  declaration is truly reflective of nearly all pre 1998 archeologist, historians and anthropolist, ’’ The first cattle, horses, chickens, and pigs were all brought to the new world by the Spaniards.’’ In a field of study where their credibility is already suspect because they cannot field test their hypotheses, one would hope for more prudent statements Passionate assertions is a poor substitute for good science. This is another problem that afflicts many in all the sciences, and in particular archeologist, historians and anthropologist. It is the Gnostic mentality, because they have specialized knowledge in their area of expertise, they are arrogant. What they fail to recognize is that they are not the only ones who have been trained in the specific process. How their gather information and their preconceived biases affects their findings and conclusions. All scientists are subject to scrutiny by those equally educatedin the methods of scientific investigation. In this case it was the preconceived bias that  “the Spaniards brought the first cattle, horses, chickens and pigs’’… to the new world … that has resulted in flawed conclusions and hasty judgments against the book of Mormon. This same bias still persist with many in the scientific community. Instead of evaluating as an option the written histories and oral traditions of the Mesoamericans, which claimed their ancestors had traveled across the great waters to Mesoamerica. They were summarily rejected in favor of the preconceived bias of the Siberian land bridge. The evidence for multiple Viking settlements and the artifacts associated with them were, and still considered by most of the archeologist and anthropologist “a ridiculous subject of study of far less serious consideration than alchemy, Ouija boards, flying saucers and moon cheese. The book of Mormon claims need to be evaluated on a regional or microregiona basis, most os the statements made in the book of Mormon are time and place sensitive. There are regional statements which are true for that area. After  the lehites arrived to Mesoamerica and were journeying  in the wilderness,  Nephi commented on the gold, silver, copper, and on the animals in that region. (1 nephi 18:25) His statements must be taken to mean that particular habitat, and not all north and south America. If pre-Columbian chickens are found in south America  increases the probability of finding chickens in Mesoamerica, given the diffusionist reality, but would be an overstatement. With less than two per cent of the known Mesoamerican ruins excavated one would want to err on the side of caution. Book of Mormon scholars need to be equally cautious about archeological claims. The current focus has been on the viability of the book of Mormon as history. The basic assumptions of the majority of anthropologist and archeologist have been wrong regarding many vital issues affecting the viability of the book of Mormon as history. One of the most important  is how the Americas were settled . Their obsession with the “Siberian land bridge only” doctrine precluded serious examination of pre-columbians transoceanic travel to the Americas . The anthropological disdain for diffusionism from Europe, Africa, or the mid eastto the Americas from 2200 BC to AD 1500 has prevent an open and honest look at legitimate artifacts. The arrogant dismissal of the extent of Viking influence in north America and their continual refusals to acknowledge hard evidence, u.i., pre-columbian peppers found in medieval lund, Sweden, by a paleo botanist; butternut wood found at L’Anse  aux meadows demonstrating Viking penetration as far south as the great lakes; and the Viking coin of Olaf Kyrie dated  1065 AD to 1065 AD found in Maine and called the Maine penny. The assumption that the Spaniards were the first to introduce horses, cattle, chickens, etc.  to the Americas, and the rejection of any evidence to the contrary  does not bode well for their scientific credibility. The fact is the Spanish introduced new breeds of European horses to the Americas, just as Canadian wolves were introduced into Yellowstone national park to replace the smaller and extinct American wolf. Evidences of pre-columbian horses are just now being allowed to come forth. There are horse bones, not prehistoric, but pre-Columbian, at the caves in the Yucatan at uxmal, that date to the time of the book of Mormon There is a stone, engraving of a horse at chichen itza on the temple of tableros, which I have personally seen. At Tulum in Mexico’s  Yucatan there is an embossed equine on the northern wall of el Castillo this would indicate awareness of horses 200 years before the Spanish arrived. People who sailed the oceans brought animals with them. think of the Vikings. Also, who is to say the chickens traveled from the islands to south America? They may also have traveled from south America to the islands carried by humans. There are today 80,000 horses in Iceland. How did they get there? They were originally brought in ships by the Vikings around AD. 800. “when peaceful Vikings settled Iceland more than a thousand years ago they brought their horses with them in open Viking long boats, Braving the cruel north atlantic.” This are the same Vikings who came to north America in ships and established several communities along the saint Lawrence seaway as well as L’Anse aux meadows in newfoundland. It is absurd to believe that a group of settlers would have not taken cattle, horses, sheep, and chickens with them. The Vikings caught fish, hunted game animals, picked berries and had brought meat, cattle, and poultry from Iceland, the cattle not only provided food but some also produced milk (and eventually dairy products). The chickens not only provided meat but also eggs and their chicks maintained the poultry system. In AD 1008 Thorfinn Karsefni brought 60 people (including 5 women) to Vinland. He continued the practice of bringing cattle and sheep from Europe and traded furs, skins etc with the aboriginal people. Also there is concrete evidence of pre-Columbian cayenne pepper found in lund Sweden, from the middle ages long before Columbus set sail. It was discovered by an evolutionist, the renowened  paleo botanist Hakon Hjelmqvist.  The Vikings obviously had contact with the people as far south as the gulf of mexico. Capsicum annum, from which cayenne pepper , bell peppers, jalapenos, and paprika come, originated in mexico and central America. Later cayenne peppers along with many other Mesoamerican foods were introduced to the rest of the world by Spanish and Portuguese sailors

Jesus in Edzná

LDS Tours By Mormon Encounter and the Artist John Zamudio

We proudly present the combination of both knowledge and skill to create a painting that doubtlessly will be a referent in the hearts and minds of all those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ's visit to America.
While Carlos Alemán (LDS researcher) and John Zamudio (painter) were talking about the time period of the Meso-American cultures, and the people of the Book of Mormon, they realized that most of the paintings already in existence about the subject of Christ in America were showing places, details and cities of a time period far from the time when it is supposed that the Savior visited the new continent.  As a result of this discussion, the creation of this project was born; illuminating paintings of Christ's visit to ancient America, showing a combination of the most interesting ruins of the Maya and other Meso-American civilizations, as well as the most accurate historical background about one of the greatest events that ever occurred on this continent, namely: The visit and ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ among the ancient American people.
We give you a warm welcome to this project and sincerely hope you enjoy it.
John Zamudio and Carlos Alemán
About the painting
This painting contains authentic history, symbolism and a fascinating realism.
The place is called Edzna, the meaning of which is not totally clear at present.  It could mean "home" or "the home of the itzáes".
The city dates back to 400 BC, and was established in a fertile valley.  It's ditches were used as a defense, and it's first builders were apparently very industrious.  They created one of the most amazing, technologically advanced Mayan cities.
Twelve men surround the Lord.  One of them, a scribe, has brought his wife and children to hear the Lord while he writes the words that comes out of the Savior's mouth.
The temple had many changes in the first century AD, when the Maya added 12 house rooms to the building and crowned their work with the temple.
On one end the Ceiba, Uaca-xan tree or Tree of Life illustrates the Lord's teachings.
The yellow flowers represent the Tajonal flower, from which the non-stinger bee called Melipona or Zunab cab (Real Lady) makes it's honey.
According to their records, the Jaredite nation brought bees to this continent.  What better bee to bring than a non-stinger bee.  These bees, by the way, originated from Africa.  (Ether 2:3)
The men are wearing on their shoulders a protection used by the ancient hunters, which would protect them from stray arrows when in the act of hunting.  The main reason these were depicted in the painting was so the viewer might recognize them as what they simply are, hunters, listening the the Savior's words.
After all, the Savior chose fisherman in the Old World, but he promised to send hunters too.
(Jeremiah 16:16)

Cracked mayan code may be a map to get 2000 156 golden plates with mayan history.

If this proves to be true, there will be more than a few  embarrassed  Guatemalan and foreign archaeologists.   Rittstieg or Rittsteig is a retired math teacher who has a wide range of interests from the Norse Eddas to Southern German dialects to Central America and Mayan studies.  The Rosetta Stone, it may be remembered, was discovered by a French soldier in Napoleon’s campaign to the East.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joachim_Rittstieg
There have been several comments on the story below.  I have appended them at the bottom – carlos

Cracked Mayan Code May Point to 8 Tons of Lost Treasure

Scientist says he deciphered Mayan codex way to sunken treasure in Lake Izabal in Guatemala

Científico alemán
-Todanoticia.com-German mathematician Joachim Rittsteig has dedicated his life to analyzing the so-called Maya Code of Dresden.
A German scientist claims to have cracked the so-called Maya Code of Dresden and discovered one of its chapters for specific information which would lead to a great treasure of gold from a vanished culture in the waters of Lake Izabal in Guatemala.
“The Dresden Maya Code leads to a huge treasure in Guatemala than eight tons of pure gold,” said the mathematician Joachim Rittsteig , 40 years studying the document, in remarks published on Monday (28/02) the German newspaper Bild .
It adds that “on page 52 speaks of the Maya capital of Atlan, which was destroyed by an earthquake on 30 October in the year 666 BC. The city is guarded 2000 156 golden tablets on which the Maya recorded their laws. “
The treasure was buried near the city in the waters of Lake Izabal, located east of Guatemala, whose remains were found by the German scientist, thanks to radar images taken in the area.
“They can clearly see the remains of the city. In the ruins of a fortress can be seen the stone sarcophagus where they could find the tables 2 000 156 gold. The information I have shown the place with a margin of error 10 cm “said Rittsteig.
The expert, who is currently seeking sponsors for an expedition to Guatemala, estimates that “only the value of gold in the tables stands at 211 million euros (290 million dollars).
Dresden Maya Code, drafted on the year 1250 AD by Mayan priests, is one of the four major documents that remain from that culture and is held by the Saxon State Library , East Germany, since 272 years.
The code was discovered in 1739 in the hands of a wealthy man in Vienna, without knowing how he came to his hands, who gave it to the library in Dresden, which keeps it under glass in his room shielded documentary treasures.
Joachim Rittsteig has devoted almost his entire life to decipher the valuable document, composed by 74 pages long and 3.56 meters for a total of 74 different hieroglyphs.

The mayan myths of creation

The Maya of Mesoamerica creation story is recounted in the book Popol Vuh.
In Maya mythology, Tepeu and Gucumatz (also known as Kukulkan, and as the Aztec's Quetzalcoatl) are referred to as the Creators, the Makers, and the Forefathers. They were two of the first beings to exist and were said to be as wise as sages. Huracan, or the Heart of Heaven, also existed and is given less personification. He acts more like a storm, of which he is the god.
Tepeu and Gucumatz hold a conference and decide that, in order to preserve their legacy, they must create a race of beings who can worship them. Huracan does the actual creating while Tepeu and Gucumatz guide the process. Earth is created, but the gods make several false starts in setting humanity upon the earth. Animals were created first; however, with all of their howling and squawking they did not worship their creators and were thus banished forever to the forest. Man is created first of mud, but they just crumbled and dissolved away. Other gods are summoned and man is next created of wood but has no soul, and they soon forgot their makers, so the gods turned all of their possessions against them and brought a black resinous rain down on their heads. Finally man is formed of masa or corn dough by even more gods and their work is complete. As such, the Maya believed that maize was not just the cornerstone of their diet, but they were also made of the same stuff.
In the beginning there is only sky and sea, personified as a trinity of gods called Heart-of-Sky. They decide that they want someone to praise them. They begin by saying "Earth", which appears on demand from the sea. This is followed by mountains and trees, and Heart-of-Sky establish that "our work is going well". Next for creation are the creatures of the forest: birds, deer, jaguars and snakes. They are told to multiply and scatter, and then to speak and "pray to us". But the animals just squawk and howl. They are consequently humbled and will become servants to whoever will worship Heart-of-Sky. So Heart-of-Sky try to make some more respectful creatures from mud. But the results are not great, and they allow the new race to be washed away.
They call upon their grandparents, who suggest wood as an appropriate medium. But the wooden people are just mindless robots, so Heart-of Sky set about the destruction of this new race by means of a rain-storm. This causes the animals to turn against the wooden people; even their pots and querns rebel, and crush the peoples' faces. The wooden people escape to the forests and are turned into monkeys. Heart-of-Sky then make yet another attempt at creating a suitably respectful race, and finally succeed by fashioning humans out of maize-corn dough.

Myth 2

The Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the Maya, contains within its creation story a tale of the destruction of the first beings by a flood. This flood differs from others in that it is not a punishment, but rather a remedy for a faulty creation. The Feathered Serpent first created man from mud. These creatures were a failure; they couldn't see, they dissolved when it rained, etc. So the god broke them up and tried again. "This time he made men out of wood. They were better than the mud-men. They could walk and talk; they had many children, built many houses, but they had no minds nor souls nor hearts. The Feathered Serpent - Quetzalcoatl was disappointed with what he had created, so he sent a great flood to cleanse the earth of his mistake.

Myth 3

In the beginning was only Tepeu and Gucumatz another name for Quetzalcoatl. These two sat together and thought, and whatever they thought came into being. They thought earth, and there it was. They thought mountains, and so there were. They thought trees, and sky, and animals etc, and each came into being. But none of these things could praise them, so they formed more advanced beings of clay. But these beings fell apart when they got wet, so they made beings out of wood, but they proved unsatisfactory and caused trouble on the earth. The gods sent a great flood to wipe out these beings, so that they could start over. With the help of Mountain Lion, Coyote, Parrot, and Crow they fashioned four new beings. These four beings performed well and are the ancestors of the Quich
